Volunteer Appreciation Day - Fun and Fellowship

It was almost de ja vu. Just like the Club Picnic, Volunteer Day started slowly with uncertain weather but, by the end of the day, the turnout had increased significantly. An estimated 80-90 volunteers and contributors enjoyed a relaxed atmosphere of fun, food, and flying.

The food was already prepared, so none of the volunteers had to “volunteer” to cook on their special day. Many thanks to John Kirchstein for taking care of the coffee and other beverages. And, special thanks to Betty Cantera for bringing a delicious cake!

Some attendees took the opportunity to fly the heli trainer; unfortunately, the fixed-wing trainer crashed while the buddy box was being set up.

Club President Mark Weiss established this event; his hope is that the positive feedback that has been expressed by those in attendance will lead to annual recognition, through an event such as this, of the volunteers and supporters who are so vital in keeping the Club running smoothly.

Around the Pattern

Membership

At the September Club meeting, a membership dues adjustment was approved. Through timely renewal and electronic receipt of the newsletter, most members will see no dues change. Various age brackets have been re-defined to align with AMA and State Park brackets. Each current member should have already received a membership renewal form. Contact Dick Stewart if yours has not arrived. Please complete all information and renew early – mail it in or bring it to a Club meeting. As of this printing, 61 members have already renewed.
