Warbirds Over Delaware - Spectator Info


Thank you for your interest in 'Warbirds Over Delaware'.

'Warbirds Over Delaware' event runs from Wednesday through Saturday. The pilots start to arrive and setup their displays and RV's starting on Wednesday. Saturday will be our big day for spectators. This will be the day that all of the pilots will be in attendance.

Flying Site Location

Delaware R/C Club's Flying Site is located in Lum's Pond State Park, Kirkwood Delaware.

From I-95 in Delaware take Exit 1 to RT-896 South, go 6.2 miles to RT-71, make a left.
Flying Site is 1/3 mile on left.

Parking
The event is free to attend, however the State Park does require a daily or annual parking permit for vehicles: Daily parking: $3.00/day for Delaware registered vehicles or $6.00/day for out-of-state registered vehicles.

The R/C Flying Field is located off of Route 71, 1/3 mile North of Route 896.

Spectator parking will be permitted (daily or annual park permits apply) at the Flying Site (subject to availability) on Wednesday and Thursday.

Spectators will be required to park at the Campground on Friday and Saturday. The Campground is located approximately 1 mile north of the R/C Flying Field on Route 71. Buses will be available starting at 9:00 AM until 3:30 PM to transport spectators from the campground to the flying site.

Handicap parking is available at the flying site each day. Handicap vehicle permits are required.

Lums Pond State Park offers camping facilities at their campground.
Overnight camping (self contained campers only) is available at the Flying Site for pilots and vendors.

Food
Food (hamburgers, hotdogs, soda, water, etc) will be served by the Troop 30 Boy Scouts starting on Friday around noon.

Pit Passes
Pit passes will be available for purchase for $10.00 per person. Pit passes will allow non-event participants to walk through the pit areas to get a close up view of the scale warbird aircraft and speak to the pilots. Pit passes for children are free but children must be accompanied by an adult.
